Fauquier Heritage Lecture

On March 16, 2008, Ed Dandar, Dr. John Eddins, and Sarah Gulick made a presentation on the Elk Run Church Site Excavation as part of the Fauquier Heritage Lectures at the John Barton Payne Building in Warrenton, Virginia.
Prince William History Forum
March 8, 2008
On March 8, 2008, Ed Dandar provided an exhibit and made a presentation that included a 10 minute DVD documentary on the Elk Run Anglican Church Site Project at the 1st Annual Prince William History Forum at Forest Park High School.
2008 Fund Drive
February 23, 2008
On February 23, 2008, the Elk Run Church Site Preservation Committee met and prepared 990 Fundraising Letters for mailing on February 25 to kick-off the Fund Drive to complete the conversion of the Archaeological site to a Historic Church Park.
Society for Historical Archaeology Conference
January 11, 2008
On January 11, 2008, Dr. John Eddins presented the Elk Run Church DVD Documentary at the 2008 Society for Historical Archaeology Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Conference dealt with how to engage the public in archaeology projects and demonstrating the public benefit of historical archaeology.
2008 Goals
January 1, 2008
Historic Church Park work this year (2008) will focus on building a protective shelter over a corner of the foundation for year-round viewing and outlining the original foundation on the surface with Colonial-style bricks. The Shelter foundation was completed in December 2007 and now awaits the walls and roof to be built later this spring and summer.
